Johnson Dermatology Gap Year Internship
Johnson Dermatology is looking for happy, positive teammates to join us for full-time work in our innovative gap yar internship program. This is an excellent opportunity for people who are looking to gain valuable hands-on clinical and administrative experience in dermatology to help in their application for medical school, graduate school, nursing school, physician assistant school, nurse practitioner school, etc. Our physicians, PAs, and NPs enjoy teaching and mentoring, and many serve as adjunct assistant clinical professors for UAMS, UAFS, ARCOM.
The mission of Johnson Dermatology is: The Johnson Dermatology Clinic strives to deliver efficient, quality, compassionate, comprehensive, patient-centered skin care. We endeavor to provide a team-oriented, productive work environment. We strive to be a responsible corporate citizen and contributing member of the community through education and service.
A successful candidate must be a quick learner, compassionate, enthusiastic, friendly, and enjoy working in both the exam rooms (as a medical assistant) and front office (check-in, check-out receptionist). Training will be provided and a certification as a dermatology medical assistant is available. Opportunities to publish articles in medical literature may also be available. Clinical assistants will work in a fast-paced and hands-on environment directly involved in patient care taking histories, assisting with surgeries, scribing, working with doctors/PAs/NPs in all aspects of the patient encounter, and checking patients in and out at the front desk. All training will be provided on site. Additionally, students will be given mentorship and guidance in their professional school application process. Training also includes hands-on labs with skills demonstration including suture lab, phlebotomy, medication administration, surgical assisting, and instrument sterilization. A minimum 10-month commitment is required. The minimum salary is $14 per hour but negotiable based on education and experience.
